Fall is almost here. Soon we will be able to smell the scent of leaves burning in the air and enjoy the cool Autumn days, warmed by bon fires with our families and friends. There are so many wonderful things that come with the changing season but also comes the dreaded task of preparing your home for Fall weather. We have put together a small checklist to help you prepare and hopefully not dread this yearly task. Remember when you hire a professional, you should always check to be sure they have insurance.

Inside your home:

* You should reverse your ceiling fan. A ceiling fan should run counter clockwise in the fall and winter to help press warm air down.

* Have your heating system checked by a professional to make sure everything is working properly for cooler temperatures. Wipe down air vents and registers and change out your filter(s)

*Check your smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and first aid kits

*Check/clean windows, sills and weather stripping at doors.

Outside your home:

*Clean your gutters and downspouts of debris

*Have your roof inspected for missing, broken or curling shingles.

*Store your hoses and winterize any outdoor faucets.

*Cover and store any outdoor furniture

*Trim up any trees and bushes
